There are a few points you need to be aware of regarding your move
Your keys can be collected from 10.30am on July 1st. Keys are not available before this date and the full set of keys for the property must be collected together. We cannot give out individual keys but do not require all tenants to collect them, just one representative.
You must make an appointment to collect your keys.
International students, we require a copy of your passports before keys are collected.
Remember July 1st is rent day. We will not hand out keys unless we have each tenants payment details so it's imperative these are forwarded to the office asap.
The office will be open Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm. Keys will not be available outside these hours.
If you arrive without making an appointment we cannot guarantee anyone will be available to check the keys out. Don't have a wasted trip!
Upon moving in please make sure you take meter readings for your gas, electricity and water. Please send these to the office using the form here and phone the relevant utility companies to set up your accounts. Details on how to set up your accounts can be found here
If you have any further questions please contact us and keep checking the site for updates!
When leaving your property and to ensure your full bond is returned please ensure you have complied with the following:
1. House
All rooms must be left clean and tidy.
Fridges must be emptied, cleaned, switched off and left with the door ajar.
Freezers must be defrosted, switched off and left with the door ajar.
Ovens, grill pans and oven shelves should be cleaned.
All rubbish and personal belongings should be removed.
All furniture must be put back into the correct room.
Do not over fill the black bins. It is your responsibility to ensure that any extra waste is disposed of.
2. Return of Keys
All keys must be returned to the Home Accommodation office by 12 noon on the final day of your tenancy.
Do not return keys by post or put keys through the office letter box. We will not accept responsibility for keys returned in the post or through the letter box.
All keys should be clearly labelled with the bedroom number (starting at the entrance), or front door and back door and returned in an envelope with the property address on the inside.
All the house/apartment keys must be returned at the same time. We will not accept individual keys!
Late or unlabelled keys will incur a charge; we also reserve the right to change the locks as stated in the Tenancy Agreement.
3. Internet equipment and Wii consoles
All internet equipment and Wii consoles should be returned to the Home Accommodation office by 12 noon on last day of your tenancy.
4. Receipted accounts of all outgoing charges
We require proof that your utility bills have been closed on the final day of your tenancy and paid in full. It is therefore important that you take gas, water and electricity readings on the final day.
Do not disconnect the services but submit your final readings to the relevant companies. Inform them that it is the end of your contract and they will be advised of the new tenant’s names shortly.
We will not accept proof of payment for accounts that have been closed on an estimated reading. Please read all meters before vacating the property.
Please provide a stamped addressed envelope for your bond return.
Bonds will not be returned until we have proof of payment for final bills and a stamped addressed envelope.
5. Leaving the property
Please set the intruder alarm. Please advise the office if you have changed the alarm code. We will charge for the electricians call out to disable an alarm if the code has been changed without notifying the office.
Please be advised that your contract is joint and several. This means that all tenants are jointly liable for any costs which are deducted from the bond, this includes damages, declined and late rent payment charges!
We hope this information is helpful, however If you anticipate any problems or have any further queries, please contact us as soon as possible. Contrary to popular belief, the majority of landlords love to return full bonds, this would mean that the house has been left clean, no damage, no hassle and ready for the new tenants.
