Description Sheffield University Rugby 1st XV Report 2007/8 Season (so far) "The start of the season got the SURFC of to a flyer. In our first competitive game we beat Leeds University (eventual league winners) in an excellent game which finished 15-13. Next came our arch rivals, Sheffield Hallam. The SURFC put on an excellent performance in front of a large crowd and dominated the Hallam side eventually winning by a margin of nearly 30 points. After an excellent start the next few games were slightly more disappointing with some close games that ended in defeat. Injuries played a big part and started to take their toll on the side. The Christmas break gave everyone a chance to recharge their batteries and to get some of the injured list fit again and we came back with a bang beating a strong Nottingham Trent and putting in a quality performance over Liverpool to win 45-5. With the league over next comes the BUSA plate competition for which we look forward to the visit of Imperial College London. Then of course comes the pinnacle of our season where we play in the varsity final against Sheffield Hallam in front of what could be up to 1000 Sheffield students and spectators."
